Jennifer Julian received a B.A. from Auburn University in 1986, but it was not until studying at the Art Institute of Atlanta that she became serious about her life as an artist. Her first break came in 1999 when Fay Gold Gallery of Atlanta showed her work at the prestigious Association of International Photography Art Dealers in New York City. She has had solo shows at Eyedrum Gallery, Atlanta’s premier cutting edge art venue, Georgia Perimeter College, Berry College, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and LaGrange Art Museum. Her photographs are in many national public and private collections including, King & Spalding, Attorneys at Law, Cultural Arts Center, Douglasville, GA, Meriwether County Courthouse, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, John Cleary Gallery, and Georgia Regional Hospital. Ms. Julian teaches Creative Photography at Spruill Center for the Arts in Dunwoody, GA, and North Georgia College and State University. In addition, she enjoys teaching children and teens in many venues. In 2003, Felicia Feaster of Creative Loafing wrote that Ms. Julian’s work “speaks Proustian volumes about vulnerability and isolation”. More recently, the Durham, NC Herald-Sun wrote that her photographs “turn ostensibly simple poses into meditations on the ways women are literally or figuratively veiled, suppressed or unseen in society.” In 2006, Ms. Julian’s first book, “Path”, was published and in 2008 she looks forward to solo exhibitions at Carrollton Arts Center, Carrollton, GA and Mercer University, Atlanta, GA. Ms. Julian now lives and works in the north Georgia mountains.
